This was a case involving the onset of a progressive vaccinia reaction. This was 2wks following a smallpox vaccination.



Progressive vaccinia occurs due to an immune defect in the vaccinated, or inadvertently inoculated individual who’s had contact with a vaccinee. Nearly all instances have been in those with a defined cell-mediated immune (CMI) defect (T-cell deficiency).
