This electron micrograph reveals the morphologic traits of the LaCrosse virus (LACV), a Bunyaviridae virus family member.



LACV is an Arboviral pathogen, which causes encephalitis in infected humans, and is transmitted to humans when they are bitten by a mosquito host vector such as the “Tree Hole” mosquito, Ochlerotatus triseriatus.
