This is a trypticase soy agar plate culture of E. sakazakii showing wrinkled colonies after three days at 25° C.
Enterobacter sakazakii, a gram-negative, rod-shaped bacterium, is from the family Enterobacteriaceae. E. sakazakii is associated with a rare, but often fatal form of neonatal meningitis with a mortality rate of 40 to 80 per cent.
